The princess was orphaned at an early age, but she
was never alone. Her guardians Coran and Nanny were always there to
care for her, as well as the spirit of her father, King Alfor. She also
befriended the mice that lived in the castle. A direct descendant of
the royal lions of Arus, her unusual silver color makes her even more precious
and majestic in the eyes of her people.
Being a Cancer, Allura is very public minded, and
concerned with the welfare of her people above all, but she can have her
shallow, self-centered moments. Her moods can shift quickly, and while normally
bright and cheerful, she can and will show the ferocity of her feline
side if set off. This rarely happens, however. She spends a great
deal of time trying to make everyone happy, and is sometimes the mediator
and judge for often petty disagreements between other members of the Voltron
Force ("Who's better at grinds? Me or him?"). She is, however, very
sensitive, and can be easily hurt, although she dislikes showing just
HOW easily, thinking a princess should always keep a strong appearance,
no matter how much her heart is breaking.
Allura never had any formal training as
a pilot, unlike the other members of the Voltron Force, so she had to learn
Blue Lion's controls from scratch. While her battle skills may not be as
advanced as that of her friends, her sheer determination and selflessness
makes her an asset to the team. Hand-to-hand, her claws, second only to Hunk's
in length and sharpness, and natural feline agility and aggressiveness
makes her far tougher than she looks, although she definitely
prefers to avoid such fighting altogether.
Allura spends a good deal of time with her duties as
a princess and young lady, but when she gets a moment away, she's
usually busy trying to keep up with the boys and fit in with them. It doesn't
always work, but they always try to maintain their patience. While she's
content to just watch from the sidelines as they pull off wild stunts
and tricks, she has managed to get them to include her on several hunts,
including some with prey of considerable danger. When she's not tagging along
with them, she likes catching up on castle gossip, usually through the mice,
tending her garden of exotic flowers, playing the piano, painting, decorating,
and just good, old-fashioned daydreaming.
Of all the members of the Voltron Force, Allura is closest
to Keith, although nobody is really sure what their relationship is. Nanny
and Coran are tolerant of him, only because it appears to be nothing more
than an innocent brother/sister friendship, although more than a few people
would like to see it go farther than that...
